Wiring A Light Switch In Mobile Home

By | May 21, 2022

If you live in a mobile home, you may need to wire a light switch in order to have working lighting. Wiring a light switch is an easy process, but it can always be intimidating for anyone who has not done it before. For starters, you'll need to turn off the electricity before you get started. This can be done by flipping the breaker switch in your electrical panel. Once the power is off, you'll want to locate the right wiring in your walls. If you're unsure, you can always contact an electrician for assistance.

Once you’ve located the wiring, you'll begin with the black wire that is connected to the switch. Remove the wire from the switch and connect it to the bottom screw on the switch. Then, attach the second black wire to the top screw. Finally, attach the ground wire to the green screw on the switch. Make sure to securely tighten all of the screws.

Once you've wired the switch, you'll want to test it out. Make sure that the power is still off and then plug in a lamp to the new switch. Flip the switch to the “on” position and switch the breaker back on. If the lamp turns on, it means that the switch is working properly. If it doesn't, you will want to double check the wiring and make sure that everything is connected correctly.

Wiring a light switch in a mobile home isn't difficult, though it's always recommended that you contact an electrician if you are feeling the least bit uneasy about tackling the project yourself. As long as you follow the instructions laid out above, you should have no problems wiring a switch in your mobile home.
